That leaves fewer than 1 in 5 in independent practice.

The elimination of non-competes wouldn’t solve that overnight. But it would give doctors the freedom to consider independence without fear of being locked out of their communities.

Independence matters because:
– It creates competition that lowers costs

– It keeps care patient-centered, not system-centered

– It allows doctors to innovate and tailor care without bureaucracy

Non-competes hold physicians – and patients – hostage. Rescinding them could mean an opportunity for balance to return.
