Lip Augmentation
LIP AUGMENTATION WITH FILLERS
The lip craze is evolving. For temporary augmentation, lip fillers are injectables to give lips a plumper and fuller appearance. The injections are composed mainly of hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in the body and is preferred for its more natural look. It does dissolve over time. How long does it last? It depends on the type of filler and the amount you get. However, you can usually expect anywhere from six months to three years, on average. It dissolves slowly so you might want to get them topped off periodically. The fillers most commonly used for lips are Juvederm, Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus, Restylane, Restylane Silk, and the latest, Kyesse. These are all made of HA but differ in their thicknesses and how they look. Dr. Hochman will assist in making the selection best suited for you.

A Lip lift is another alternative
As we age, our lips are impacted by gravity, narrowing the lips and the smile. Patients are becoming tired of the repeated injections, wanting something more permanent. Raising the vermilion border (the edge of the lips) causes lips to appear more enhanced, defining the "Cupid's bow" so lips are more prominent and crisp. The Lip Lift also can tilt the corners of the mouth with a corner lift. This procedure is usually done in under an hour with a local anesthetic creating a small incision just below the nostrils.
