RESHAPES PROTRUDING EARS
Otoplasty or “Ear Reshaping” is a procedure that was created to change the appearance of the ears. This procedure is for people who have protruding or misshapen ears and the procedure generally takes about one and a half to two hours to perform. This procedure is often referred to as “pinning the ears” and can really help improve the self-esteem of a young person. The procedure can also be done under local to remove heavy thick earlobes, as well as repair torn earring holes.

Procedure Details
Procedure: Set prominent ears back closer to the head, or reduce the size of large ears. Most often done on children before they start school (ages 5-6). However, if the patient is older and has never had an opportunity to do it in childhood, it can be done at any age.
Length: 2 Hours
Anesthesia: Young children: usually general anesthesia. Older children or adults: local anesthesia or IV sedation.
Recovery: Back to work or school: 5 to 7 days. Strenuous activity, contact sports: 1 month.
