Mark Segal, MD
Board Certified Anesthesiologist
I received my Medical License from The University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona and did my residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School Boston, Massachusetts. I provide and monitor the anesthesia involved in all of Dr. Hochman’s surgeries which require it.
I am from Boston and originally trained as a cosmetologist, however soon took a job as a receptionist in a hospital and have since been involved in healthcare practice management throughout my career. I was at Boston Regional Medical Center for 13 years, Massachusetts General Hospital for three, then moved to Charleston as Director of Admissions at Roper St. Francis Hospital for eight years. Two years ago I joined The Facial Surgery Center as Practice Manager. My diverse background allows me to happily combine those experiences in finance, aesthetics, safety standards, people skills and other different services into utilization of all talents in one setting. I enjoy assisting Dr. Hochman with the business side of the practice and managing the staff.
Kim Tyler, RN, BSN
I am originally from Pennsylvania and obtained my nursing degree from East Carolina University. I joined the Facial Surgery Center in April 2015 with over 20 years of nursing experience.
I have been impressed with Dr. Hochman’s work and was thrilled to become a member of his team. One of my main responsibilities is administering patient care before, during, and after surgery. In addition, I educate patients regarding their surgical procedures to help alleviate any concerns that they may have. My goal is to make the patient’s experience as pleasant as possible.
Records and Billing
I am a retired Elementary School teacher, beginning my career in West Virginia and learning new skills through several continuing education courses. After moving to Charleston, I joined The Facial Surgery Center staff in 2007 as an Operator. Through the years my responsibilities have grown to include overseeing medical records, scheduling patients and billing.
At The Facial Surgery Center I assist Dr. Hochman with all of his procedures, which has given me an opportunity to work more closely with patients on a personal level.
I graduated from Winthrop College with BS in Economics and Computers. I worked in PR and Retail Marketing for a large bank, then worked in the SC Governor’s Office creating economic computer models. After my sons were in school, I worked for the Horry County Schools in Technology for 14 years. I began volunteering for Dr. Hochman and The Hemangioma Treatment Foundation in 2004, becoming a part-time employee in 2008 and have been associated with Dr. Hochman and his staff in all of his practices since 2010. I am involved in social media, public relations, and marketing with various computer related responsibilities.
